The Story of Gerga

Located in the heart of the Aegean region, Gerga is more than just a name, it is a reflection of history, land and cultural continuity.

The ancient city of Gerga, situated in the Aydın region of Turkey, dates back to the Archaic period and carries traces of Carian civilization, one of the earliest cultures of Western Anatolia.
Surrounded by mountains and preserved through centuries, this region has long been a place where nature and history coexist.

The Aegean landscape, shaped by its unique climate and fertile valleys, has been home to fig cultivation for thousands of years. In fact, fig culture in this region is considered as old as human history, making it one of the earliest cultivated fruits.

Figs are not just another fruit, they are rare, selective and highly dependent on specific ecological conditions. Their cultivation is limited to very particular climates, and the Aegean region stands as one of the most suitable and historically rooted environments for their growth.

Today, Aydın remains one of the world’s leading regions for fig production, with generations of knowledge shaping the quality and character of its figs.

Gerga draws its inspiration from this deep-rooted heritage, a place where history, geography and nature come together to produce one of the most distinctive fruits in the world.

Rooted in History, Grown with Care

In the lands where Gerga once stood, fig cultivation has been part of life for centuries.
Shaped by the unique climate of the Aegean, these lands continue to produce figs of exceptional character and quality.

Today, we carry this heritage forward, bringing a fruit that is both rare and deeply connected to its origin.
